A still from Tu Hai .
New Delhi:
Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde dance and sing by candlelight in the Great Pyramid of Giza - oh wait...
Do over. Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde dance and sing by candlelight in the Great Bath of the Indus Valley Civilisation in Tu Hai, the new song from director Ashutosh Gowariker's period piece Mohenjo Daro.
With every glimpse into the world inhabited by Sarman and Chaani, the characters played by Hrithik and Pooja, it becomes increasingly apparent that one ought not to expect historical accuracy from Mohenjo Daro - from Chaani's Grecian draperies to the mood lighting in the Great Bath, nothing looks authentic. The setting seems far more suited to ancient Egypt, had ancient Egyptians worn dhotis and turbans.
Tu Hai appears to document a ritual of some sort, in the midst of which Sarman and Chaani conduct a secret romance as everyone around - Kabir Bedi's villain included - helpfully looks the other way.
The Sarman-Chaani romance received a brief extension on Twitter:
AR Rahman provides both the music and the singing voice for Hrithik Roshan, who, by his own account, is thrilled by Tu Hai:
Tu Hai's lyrics are by Javed Akhtar and additional vocals by Sanah Moidutty.
