Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge actorSaqib Saleem says he is happy with the way his elder sisterHuma Qureshi's career being shaping up and does not hesitateto discuss work with her.
Saqib, 24, who is gearing up for his next release MereDad Ki Maruti, says his two-films-old sister gives him actingtips.
"Huma has made her mark in the industry with films likeGangs of Wasseypur and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. I amhappy for what she has achieved today because we belong to anon-film background.
"In the industry also she is my senior. Whenever we arefree from our shoots we discuss work. We stay together inMumbai and are always ready to help each other," Saqib toldPTI.
For Delhi-born Saqib, choosing this profession was nota cakewalk as his restaurateur father wanted him to pursue aMBA degree.
"While I was in college, I was intrigued by modelling andalso won the best model award in my college. I started gettingmodelling assignments and that's how I became interested inacting. But my father, who last watched Dilip Kumar'sDevdas, wanted me to do MBA. I didn't listen to him and gavemy audition for Yash Raj films' Mujhse Fraaandship Karogeand got selected for it," he said.
As part of Yash Raj's three-film contract, Saqib will beseen next in debutante director Ashima Chibber's comedy MereDad Ki Maruti. The film's trailer was released with Jab TakHai Jaan.
Set in Chandigarh, the film is a quirky tale of a boy,who loses his father's car.
"The film is about a son whose father thinks he is goodfor nothing. I am playing the son's character, Sameer, in thefilm. It's a comedy flick and it was difficult to achieve thecomic timing. We all attended workshops with Ashima (director)to preparing for our characters," he said.
The film stars TV actor Ram Kapoor as the strict fatheron-screen. But Saqib says off-screen he helped him learn hischaracter better.
"He is phenomenal. As I am new, he was very helpful. Heappreciated me when I did something correctly and alwaysguided me when I did something wrong. He was like a fatherfigure for me on the sets," he added.
