I am here to entertain, not lecture the audience: Sanjay Dutt
Mumbai: Actor Sanjay Dutt, who will be seen next in soon-to-be released action-comedy Chatur Singh--Two Star says he would like to stick to films that entertain the audience as they don't prefer "preachy" movies.

"I want to do films which entertain people. I did films like Knock Out and Lamha though both these films were good. But today audiences do not like movies that are preachyor give lecture. They feel why to see this lecture kind of films...as it is they are aware about the issues like that of Kashmir," Sanjay told PTI.

"So I have decided to do just commercial films which I used to do. I am not here to give lecture to the audience," he said.

Chatur Singh..., is directed by Ajay Chandhok and stars Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, and Ameesha Patel in lead roles.

About the film, Sanjay said, "It is out-an-out comedy and a commercial film you can go and have a blast. The movie is about a police officer who is funny and it is Sonia (AmeeshaPatel) who helps her get right clues. All this leads to a sequence of hilarious events."

When asked about similarity between American-Czech comedy film The Pink Panther (2006) and Chatur Singh--Two Star, the actor said, "There is no similarity. It is not a copy of the Pink Panther series because not even a single film of the series has clicked in India. It would be futile to copy such a franchise."

"The movie is based on a novel called Chalaak Jasoos but lot of changes have been made in the original subject, he said.

On his character, "I play the role of a silly police officer who thinks he is doing all the right things but whatever he does gets him in a mess. Also, I had to gain weight for the film."

Sanjay has also lent his voice for two songs--Murga anda dega do oye oye and Singh Singh Chatur Singh for the film. "I thought I will try singing if anytime I don't getroles in films then I can at least become a singer," he chuckled.

Prior to this, the actor has sung for his films like Kaante (2002) and Khoobsurat (1999) and a song 'Aapke dil nein for singer Asha Bhosle's album, Asha & Friends.

Produced by Mohammad Aslam and Parag Sanghvi the movie releases on August 19.
