Mumbai:
Actor-producer Aamir Khan, whose home production Delhi Belly releases today, feels that he does not have a Midas touch to make a film successful but does take credit for accepting and supporting wonderful scripts, that made his ventures victorious at the box-office.
"I don't believe I have a golden touch. I don't think I am the only reason for a film to be successful. Every film that you see of my mine that has become successful has first being originated in the mind of the writer, with whom I have no connection and have given no idea to him," Aamir told PTI.
"Had these beautiful scripts not come to me then I would have not been able to be part of it. So I think the first thing we must realise that there is huge contribution from each of these writers. Then each of the directors and the other creative talent that has contributed towards the success of the film be credited," he said.
In the recent times, films like Peepli Live, 3 Idiots, Ghajini, Taare Zameen Par and few others - that have done well at the box office, have seen the perfectionist either acting or producing the films.
Peepli Live saw Aamir producing the film and for Taare Zameen Par he turned director and also acted in the film.
While, in case of 3 Idiots, Ghajini, Rang De Basanti, Fanna he as acted in these films.
Aamir said Lagaan was born in Ashutosh Gowarikar's mind and he wrote it. "I had nothing to do it when he came to me his script was totally complete and I loved it. Same is the case with Peepli Live was written by Anusha Rizvi, TaareZameen Par by Amole Gupte," he said.
"In case of Rang De Basanti the story of Bhagat Singh was made almost four times and no one was willing to make it again. Like '3 Idiots' is Raju Hirani's film, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and my film....all of us have contributed for it," Aamir said.
But the 46-year-old actor says he does not mind taking credit for accepting these films.
"So whatever films have been successful the credit goes to writer and director. I know I am a common factor. I have had the good sense to say yes to these films and to do good work and the fortune of a good team. I can accept credit for selecting and supporting these unusual and risky films," Aamir said.
"But not the credit for success as that has to be shared with writer and director being the main people," he said.
In case of Delhi Belly Aamir is the producer and has done an item song, where he will be seen in a retro look. The film releases today.
