I Deliver What I Promise: Ekta Kapoor

I Deliver What I Promise: Ekta Kapoor
New Delhi: After conquering television, Ekta Kapoor has set her eyes on the big screen and the producer has already found a successful formula in the potent mix of sex and horror with her next movie, aptly titled Ragini MMS.

The small budget film comes with a tag line that says: 'They don't know it yet but it is a threesome' and Ekta says she is delivering what the title promises.

The producer, who last shocked the audience with Love, Sex Aur Dhokha, says her film is India's first "voyeuristic horror" and strictly meant for the young audience.

"I love horror. I don't think India makes great horrors but we have a done a fabulous job in Ragini MMS as there are 24 cameras capturing every details. At no point the camera zooms on the face. This type of voyeuristic horror makes you a part of what's happening on the screen," said Ekta.

The 35-year-old dominated the prime-time with serials like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kabhi Sautan KabhiSaheli, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Kasamh Se, founded a new production house, Alt Entertainment, to make her kind of cinema in Bollywood.

"I have made the film to make the audience uncomfortable. It is a film made to scare the youngsters, it is raw and I think we have achieved what we set out to do. I am hoping that the film works and then I plan to bring two more horror movies," says Ekta.

Apart from small budget fares, Ekta is also putting her money on big budget stories like the much promised sequel to Once Upon A Time and Dirty Picture but the young producer says she does not believe in doing research on the audience taste.

"I don't believe in doing a research on audience taste. I go by my gut feeling and luckily I have been lucky most of the time.

"But we brought something from history in Once Upon... It was already there in history. Haji Mastan was already there. Mentor-prodigy relationship is most bizarre relationship and we brought it out well in the movie."

Akshay Kumar is playing Shoaib Khan in the sequel of Once Upon A time. Milan Luthria is directing both the sequel and Dirty Picture, a movie about the life of yesteryearmovie siren Silk Smitha.

"I love to work with Milan. We have a comfort level and we believe in same things," says Ekta.

She is often called a "superstitious person" thanks to the multiple rings and threads adorning her hands but Ekta says it is a matter of perception.

"It is a perception. Someone may find me superstitious but I like to believe that I am a believer. I always give a lot of thought about what I believe and then I go with it," says Ekta.
