Alis Bhatt plays the role of Shanaya Singhania, who comes from a very affluent and a rich background

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's daughterAlia Bhatt, who is making her acting debut with Karan Johar'sStudent Of The Year, says she wants to learn from hermistakes and doesn't want her father to interfere in her work.
The 19-year-old says though she comes from a filmybackground she doesn't want any help from her family.
"Every now and then he (Mahesh) tells me where he feelsthe need but I like to be on my own and I want to learn frommy mistakes," said Alia.
The movie sees her play the role of Shanaya Singhania,who comes from a very affluent and a rich background.
"Shanaya loves her clothes, bags, shoes and she is verybrand conscious. She also comes from a dysfunctional familyand feels lonely and is looking for that one person who canlove her unconditionally," Alia said.
Student Of The Year also stars newcomers SiddharthMalhotra and Varun Dhawan and it is releasing on October 19.Alia says she is excited and nervous about becoming anactress at a very young age.
"I am just 19, I finished school and just walked intomovies. So I am really scared and nervous as to how it willturn out to be. I didn't plan this, it just came along and Iam enjoying every bit of it."
