Shah Rukh Khan addressing reporters in Srinagar.
Srinagar:
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is on his much-publicised maiden shoot in Kashmir, had to work his charm on fans and media as chaos broke out during his press conference.
The 46-year-old actor, who completed his schedule in the Valley for Yash Chopra's new directorial venture, took the mic first to apologise for turning up lateby fifteen minutes and then started talking about how happy he was to be in Kashmir.
But the actor was forced to repeat his lines as people jostled with each other to pose questions to him at the poorlyorganized event.
Ever the charmer, Shah Rukh first used filmy dialogues like Shatrughan Sinha's Khaamosh to restore order at the press briefing. However, the actor had to leave his chair and direct the photographers and fans to be seated.
SRK, who has been regularly updating his fans about the first ever trip to the beautiful valley, said: "Hopefully, when we shoot films in London or Switzerland, people see those places and want to go there. Since this film has been extensively shot in Kashmir, people will see it and want to come here."
The 46-year-old actor, who will be romancing Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the movie, earlier shot in London and Ladakh and has now wrapped up the week long Gulmarg and Pahalgam schedule.
Looking dapper in a black tuxedo, the superstar charmed the attendees as order was restored within a few minutes.
He also requested the journalists to pose questions one by one as he would answer all their queries.
Shah Rukh Khan took more than a dozen questions from the journalists and fans but the brief chaotic scenes led to an altercation.
On September 4, King Khan informed his scores of followers on Twitter that he spent one night in the same room where legendary Raj Kapoor filmed the famous Hum tum ek kamre mein band hon song for his 1973 superhit teenage romance Bobby.
The superstar is making the most of his shooting schedule in Kashmir and he was relishing traditional Kashmiri delicacies.
After shooting for Yash Chopra's untitled film in famous tourist spots Pahalgam and north Gulmarg, SRK is scheduled to fly back to Mumbai Thursday. He was sad that his stay in the Valley has come to an end.
"It was always my father's dream to take me to Kashmir because his grandmother belonged to this place. Although I could not come here in his lifetime, yet making it finally to Kashmir has been the fulfilment of a family dream. I am happy it has been finally realised," he said.
Asked about Kashmir being portrayed in a certain manner especially since violence broke out here, he said: "Different people have different ideas. Films are just the reflection of a society and it depends on a storyteller what kind of story he wants to tell. For example, I am presently here shooting for a love story."
About the negative portrayal of Muslims in the West, SRK said: "We should not get into a negative attitude. I think all of us must explain to others that what some of us might be doing by way of violence has nothing to do with our religion."
Commenting upon his larger than life stature in the Indian film industry, he said: "God has always been very kind to me and everybody has been nice to me."
Yash Chopra, who is returning to the director's seat after a gap of eight years, has Shah Rukh playing the role of an army officer Samar in the film.
Yash Chopra, producer of some of the most admired Bollywood love triangles like Daag, Silsila and Kabhi Kabhie, which were shot in the Kasmir Valley, returned to his favourite locations after a gap of 37 years.
The movie, which is slated for a Diwali release will get a name on Yash Chopra's 80th birthday, which is on September 27. (With IANS inputs)
