Malayalam filmmaker I V Sasi, died in Chennai on Tuesday, reported news agency IANS. He was 69. I V Sasi changed the scenario of Malayalam cinema in the 1970s with his presentation experiments and technical skills. Tweets mourning the death of the legendary filmmaker poured in from celebrities of the Southern film industry. "Sad to hear about the passing away of film maker I.V. Sasi, have worked with this dynamic director. Sympathies to his wife actress Seema and kids," tweeted actress-filmmaker Raadhika Sarathkumar while actress-politician Khushboo, added: "We have lost our great technician and director I.V.Sasi Sir... heartfelt condolences to the family... 1 of my best Kolangal was his direction."

I V Sasi's made his debut as a director with 1975's Malayalam movie Ulsavam and some 19 movies later, made Avalude Ravukal, which remains categorised under World Cinema as a classic, and has been remade in several times including a remake in Hindi. In a career spanning over three decades, I V Sasi is known to have directed over 150 movies.
Some of his best works include Aalkkoottathil Thaniye, Devasuram and Aavanazhi . Apart from Malayalam films, I V Sasi also made major contributions to Telugu and Tamil cinema while 1986's Bollywood movie Anokha Rishta, starring Smita Patil and Rajesh Khanna, is also one of his celebrated movies.
In 1982, I V Sasi won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration for Aarodaam - a National Award win he shared with the film's producer.
I V Sasi is survived by his wife, actress Seema, and two children.
