I was never keen on entering Bollywood: Nagarjuna

Mumbai: Southern superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni, son of veteran actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni, says he was never keen on entering Bollywood.

"I never had a Hindi cinema dream. It might be difficult for people to apprehend that, but I was very happy here," the 53-year-old said in a TVshow.

He entered Telugu cinema in 1986 with Vikram. Till date, he has featured in almost 100 films, including Hindi and Tamil movies, and he has been honoured with two National Awards.

His 1989 film Siva was remade in Hindi titled Shiva, and later he became a part of 1992 film Khuda Gawah, also featuring actor Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi.

"I agreed to do the film because Sridevi was a friend and said she would like me to do the role. Another reason was that I am huge fan of Amitji," added the actor, also known for starring in Criminal.

While Nagarjuna continues to blaze the screen, his son Naga Chaitanya, 25, who made his debut with 2009 Telugu film Josh, will now carry forward the Akkinneni legacy.
