Though October 11 is celebrated every year as megastar Amitabh Bachchan's birthday, the actor considers that he was reborn on August 2, the day he recovered from a serious injury inflicted while filming for his superhit film 'Coolie' in 1982.
"2nd August 1982!! The day I was revived after being clinically dead after 'Coolie' mishap... so Happy Birthday today with friends!," Bachchan said on Twitter.
Big B, who was born on 11 October 1942, had on 26 July 1982, while shooting a fight scene with co-actor Puneet Issar for Manmohan Desai's 'Coolie' in the University campus in Bangalore, suffered a near fatal intestinal injury.
In the fight scene, Big B was required to fall onto a table and then on the ground. As he jumped towards the table, the corner of the table struck his abdomen. He remained critically ill in hospital for many months, at times close to death.
The 68-year-old actor had spent many months recovering and resumed filming later that year after a long period of recuperation.
