Matt Damon said he wanted to save water
New Delhi: Hollywood A-list actor Matt Damon just raised the bar for those taking up the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by using toilet water. The Water.org co-founder explained that his choice of water was not as "disgusting" because of the fact that there was drought in California and that millions of people had to go without water each day. In the video, Matt first thanked Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck for nominating him and apologized for the delay on his part, that he had crossed the 24 hour time deadline set for the challenge, assuring that he would pay his fine.

"This is truly toilet water. I've been collecting it from various toilets around the house," he said as he filled up the ice bucket. "For those of you like my wife, who think this is really disgusting, keep in mind that the water in our toilets in the West is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world have access to," he added.

The 43-year-old star then cheerfully doused water over his head, stating, "As disgusting as this may seem, hopefully it will highlight that this is a big problem, and together we can do something about it. I'm happy to take this challenge. Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel this is for you"

He subsequently nominated his "favourite actor," George Clooney, "favourite musician," Bono, and Tom Brady "the greatest quarterback of all time."
