New Delhi:

If Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is remade, Sonam Kapoor's entrepreneur husband Anand Ahuja has hit upon a handy money-saver for filmmaker Karan Johar (hope he's listening). Anand, owner of the labels Bhane and VegNonVeg, is in his own way as much an authority on fashion as his uber-stylish wife and when he says, "Karan Johar, if you ever remake Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, you could reuse all the clothes," it's certainly worth listening. For any doubters out there, Anand has helpfully posted two stills from the film on his Instagram stories as explainers. We'll break it down for you.

Fashion's cyclical nature means that many current trends were also in vogue when Karan Johar made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, his debut as a director, in 1998. Anand Ahuja has neatly marked out the Nineties essentials that wouldn't look out of place in a 2018 film. For starters, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol nailed what we now call athleisure in: center zip tracksuit, big logo jacket, bulky shoes, thin frame sunglasses and dad jeans.

In this still from the song Koi Mil Gaya, SRK, Kajol and Rani Mukerji check more fashion boxes: a glitter dress, vintage tee, fanny pack, light wash denim, dungarees.

Here's what Anand Ahuja posted:

Anand Ahuja is certainly onto something here. Some of the trends he listed are timeless - light was denim, for instance - of course but others have indeed popped up again. Dungarees, as seen on Malaika Arora at the airport a couple of months ago.

Deepika Padukone is only one of an entire galaxy of stars who own this Gucci fanny pack:

Alia Bhatt and Navya Naveli Nanda gave the glittery minidress a 2018 update recently - Alia in a Zara tuxedo dress at the wrap party of Gully Boy in April and Navya in a dress from her mother Shweta Bachchan Nanda's new collaboration with designer Monisha Jaising just a few days ago.

Yes, you can wear your tracksuit outside of the gym. It's a full on look - if you need encouragement, here's Kangana Ranaut wearing Gucci while travelling.

And guess who's still rocking the logo jacket, 20 years on? Shah Rukh Khan

Now, in case you're wondering if all this talk of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2 is merely academic, news agency IANS reports that Karan Johar recently said, "If I made Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 2, I would cast Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor in it." Not that it's any indication that he actually does plan to bring this potential blockbuster out of the realm of rumour and into reality.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was a huge hit and also featured Salman Khan in a special appearance.
