The 42nd Indian International Film Festival today paid a tribute to legendary singer-composer Bhupen Hazarika by screening his film Ek Pal.
The 1986 film, directed by Kalpana Lajmi, boasts of a starcast including Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Farooq Sheikh.
Hazarika was its producers as well as music composer.
Hazarika also made a short appearance in a scene in the film, set in his homeland Assam.
Ek Pal charts the journey of a woman Priyam, who falls in love with a man but marries another only to live a life of emptiness.
Besides singing and composing, Hazarika also directed a number of films in his lifetime. He passed away on November 5 in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 86.
Besides Hazarika, IFFI is also paying tribute to the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Tareque Masood, Claude Chabrol,Sidney Lumet, Raul Ruiz and Adolfas Meekas.
