This year's IIFA to be grander than ever
New Delhi:
The 2013 edition of International Indian Film Academy awards (IIFA) will celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema as the three-day Bollywood extravaganza returns to Macau after 2009.
Announcing the destination, Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan said he will be performing at the ceremony, which kickstars from July 4 this year.
Abhishek's presence indicates that Bachchan family has mended its differences with the organisers.
Bachchans were regular at the ceremony but things went sour in 2010 after Big B, IIFA's brand ambassador for 10 years, did not attend the Sri Lanka edition amid protests by Tamil groups.
"I am ecstatic to hear the venue as Macau. This is the place where we celebrated our 10th year of IIFA and I am happy that it is going back to the same place where we will celebrate 100 years of cinema," Abhishek told.
When asked whether the whole clan will be back together,Abhishek said, "I am not sure whether the whole Bachchan clan will come this year but they have asked only me to perform."
Sabbas Joseph, director of Wizcraft International Entertainment and IIFA, promised that the latest edition will be grander than ever.
"We are delighted to announce Macau as our host destination after 2009. The grand ceremony will take place at the Venitian resort. We have travelled across four continents and 11 countries.
"We are positive that this year will be more spectacular as we celebrate 100 years of cinema," Joseph said.
