Highlights

  • It's time for Bollywood’s annual weekend get-together, this one to be held abroad, and a host of Bollywood stars have descended on Tampa Bay, USA for the IIFA Awards – far away from Mumbai and the election fever.
  • Spotted ahead of the extravaganza was actress Sonakshi Sinha, her rumoured beau Shahid Kapoor, who was also sighted signing autographs for his American fans. Shahid will be hosting the award ceremony for the third time whilst actor Saif Ali Khan, also photographed at the Tampa Bay airport, will be playing master of ceremonies at the technical awards.
  • The first batch of stars who arrived at Tampa Bay included Saif Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadda, and Aditi Rao Hydari. Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Malaika Arora Khan, Yami Gautam, Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor joined them a day later (April 23). The penultimate last set of stars who left for IIFA yesterday include Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Madhuri Dixit, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta. Still to fly out is Farhan Akhtar, Shahid’s co-host, who waited to vote today.
  • In the absence of important regulars like Shah Rukh Khan, the Bachchan family and Salman Khan, this IIFA may well belong to Bollywood's young guns.
