A still from Mohenjo Daro.
New Delhi:
If the first song released from Hrithik Roshan's new film brought to mind Ancient Egypt, the title track is distinctly Middle Eastern.
Hrithik sings and dances energetically in Mohenjo Mohenjo, with belly dancers in chiffon skirts backing him.
The object of his affections is debutante Pooja Hegde, wearing another of the feathered headdresses that has been criticized as being inauthentic to the setting - the Indus Valley Civilisation - and era - sometime between 2500 BCE and 1900 BCE.
Pooja, who plays a priestess' daughter named Chaani, is flanked by a fiercely turbaned Arunoday Singh and Kabir Bedi wearing a headdress with horns, possibly meant to invoke the Pashupati Seal.
Mohenjo Mohenjo is composed and sung by A R Rahman, and features his signature drumbeats.
Arijit Singh, Bela Shende and Sanah Moidutty also provide vocals. Lyrics have been written by Javed Akhtar.
Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Mohenjo Daro is set to release on August 12. Akshay Kumar's Rustom, which opens on the same date, also released a song titled Tay Hai on July 19.
