It's been 75 years since India got independence from British rule and with each passing year, the celebrations become more remarkable and grandeur. Not just the events leading to India's freedom in 1947 but also the post-independence wars, where our armed forces protected the country by sacrificing their own lives, serve as the base for numerous films and web series, curated by Indian filmmakers. For the last few decades, Indian cinema has showcased the story of the country's freedom struggle and its unsung heroes in countless ways, each time managing to leave us teary-eyed and stirring the patriotic spirit among us.

As India gears up to celebrate the 75 years of independence, we have prepared a list of biopics of our country's unsung heroes that you can watch today. Make the most of Independence Day by remembering the Bravehearts of our country, who willingly sacrificed their lives to change the course of Indian history.

1.Sardar Udham - Amazon Prime Video

If there is a word to describe this Shoojit Sircar directorial then it has to be extraordinary. The film is an emotional and captivating ride. You cannot imagine anyone else apart from Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.

2.Major - Netflix 

Adivi Sesh essayed the role of 26/11 hero Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who was martyred in action during the Mumbai attacks. The movie, directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, also stars Prakash Raj, Revathy, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Saiee Manjrekar in crucial roles. 

3.Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl  - Netflix

It is based on the life of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, who was the first female pilot in combat. Janhvi Kapoor played the titular role.

4.Shershaah - Amazon Prime 

“Yeh Dil Maange More” is the first thing that comes to our mind about this film. The film is based on the life of Kargil war hero, Captain Vikram Batra. The titular character was portrayed by Sidharth Malhotra. And, we have more reason to celebrate this film as it has completed one year of its release recently. 

5. The Legend Of Bhagat Singh - Netflix

This biopic chronicles the life of legendary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who led an armed resistance against the British in the 1920s. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starred Ajay Devgn in the titular role.
