Ittefaq Posters: Twitter Loves Akshaye Khanna. Sorry, Sonakshi And Sidharth

New Delhi: Producer Karan Johar revealed three posters for new film Ittefaq today featuring the three principal characters - played by Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna. #Ittefaq has been Twitter's top trend since and while the Internet isn't impressed by either Sidharth or Sonakshi - "Got interest when I saw the poster but lost interest when I came to know Sidharth is the hero and Sonakshi the heroine," reads one damning response - the presence of the rarely-seen Akshaye has been given an emphatic thumbs up. "Ittefaq, a remake of Rajesh Khanna's 1969 film of the same name, is a murder mystery in which both Sonakshi and Sidharth are suspects and Akshaye is the cop on the job.

"Love to see Akshaye Khanna, awesome actor with so much talent," reads one typically gushing tweet. "Brilliant actor who is yet to get his rightful recognition," read another. "Akshaye will be the backbone of this film," read a third, summing up the general sentiment.

He may not hv got the success which he deserved, he may not b as popular as some of the star kids. But he is one of my fav actors.

Akshaye Khanna has been made a career of sorts out of playing cops in films such as 36 China Town and the recent MOM - a couple of tweets did say they would like to see him in a different role.

Few responses were as kind to either Sidharth Malhotra or Sonakshi Sinha, with one tweet describing Sidharth as a 'vela actor' with 'zero talent':

Ouch.

The 1969 original, directed by Yash Chopra, starred Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Bindu in key roles. Iftekhar played the police inspector and Madan Puri was cast as a public prosecutor.

Ittefaq the sequel will release on November 3.
