New Delhi: 'His truth, her truth, the real truth.' That pretty much sums up the newly-released trailer of upcoming film Ittefaq, the thunder of which has been partly stolen by actor Hrithik Roshan's first ever statement about what he calls 'dirty perverse mess' with actress Kangana Ranaut. In short - Kangana claims she and Hrithik dated, he says they didn't; they exchanged legal notices last year; she claimed he was 'slut-shaming' her; the Roshans recently filed a police complaint against Kangana accusing her of stalking; she allegedly sent him over 3,000 emails, some of which have been accessed by news outlets from the police complaint; Kangana has publicly demanded an apology from Hrithik and his father; her sister claims Kangana has 'moved on.'

In his statement, Hrithik Roshan has attempted to disprove a lot of what Kangana Ranaut has said about him/them over the last few sordid months. He claims he never spent any time in private with his co-star of two films (Kites and Krishh 3), that his passport proves he wasn't in Paris proposing to Kangana when she claims he was, that the picture of them at a party that circulated last year was photoshopped, and that the 3,000-odd emails were 'one-sided.'

Twitter knows this much - the ballad of Hrithik and Kangana sounds a lot like the plot of Ittefaq, in which Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha, both accused of murder, offer different versions of what happened on a single fateful night. Akshaye Khanna is on hand to investigate in the film - sadly not in IRL.

The 29-page police complaint filed on behalf of the Roshans by lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani went viral this week, as did excerpts from the Kangana's alleged emails to Hrithik. It's plainly more than just a particularly bad break-up and Twitter, for one, is over it.

Kangana Ranaut, winner of three National Awards, was last seen in Simran, a film that was controversial on several levels not least of which the explosive Hrithik-centred quotes that Kangana gave to several TV channels. Simran was poorly-received by both critics and the box office, though Kangana's performance was singled out for praise. Her last film Rangoon, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, was also a flop.

Ittefaq, meantime, releases on November 3. It is a remake of Yash Chopra's 1969 film of the same name starring Rajesh Khanna.
