Kozhikode: Doctors have postponed the shifting of veteran Malayalam film actor Jagathy Sreekumar from a hospital here to Christian Medical College hospital Vellore for further treatment following his car accident on March 10.

Sreekumar, scheduled to be taken to CMC by air-ambulance today, would be shifted on April 12 as the Intensive Care Unit there is not yet ready and the flight is also available only on that date, sources at Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) said.

A three-member doctors team from CMC had recently assessed the actor's condition and had decided to shift him to Vellore.

But it was postponed as Sreekumar developed fever and he was put on ventilator, which has now been removed, they said.

Sreekumar, who has acted in more than 1,000 films, was on his way to Kodagu in Karnataka for shooting a film when his car rammed into a road divider and overturned at nearby Tenhippalam.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had  visited the actor at MIMS yesterday.
