Javed Akhtar feels that filmmakers today make movies keeping in mind audience from the metro cities only.

Veteran scriptwriter and poetJaved Akhtar feels movies today are made for a certain classof audience and filmmakers only target metro cities for theirproject's release.
"Now films are being made for a certain class. A produceronce said to me 'I don't care if my film is not released inUP, MP or Bihar. It must release in metros'. He's saying that75 percent of Indians don't matter. This is our development.This reflects even for our news channels. How can they goagainst those who give them Advertisements?," said 68-year-oldAkhtar while attending ASSOCHAM's annual Summit onEntertainment and Media.
Javed Akhtar, who has written hits like Sholay, Zanjeer,Don and Deewar, also said that we have entered "industrialage with an age old feudal mind".
"We have entered industrial age with an age old feudalmind. You should see what kind of contracts the entertainmentchannels get in with musicians, directors or a writer. Andthese contracts have been made in a country where bondedlabour is banned.
"If you try to exploit or repress someone else in abetter position... He will exploit and repress you. We lacksense of equality. We need to change basic moral values," headded.
