London: Rapper Jay Z returned home for a sold-out concert to open Brooklyn's new basketball stadium.
The 42-year-old music producer, who grew up just two miles from the new Barclays Centre arena, told his fans that he enjoyed his performance at the home ground, reported Sun online.
"I've been on many stages all around the world and nothing feels like tonight. I'm really overwhelmed by the moment. I can't believe that this day has come," he said.
During the concert Jay-Z sported the Brookyln Nets's jersey, which he co-owns with Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, and hat, as he sang recent hits like Empire State of Mind and returned to his highly acclaimed debut album Reasonable Doubt.
The stadium, which started construction in 2009, will bring a major professional sports team back to Brooklyn for the first time after many years.
