New Delhi:
Actress Jennifer Lawrence, star of films like American Hustle and Joy, revealed a 'humiliating' and 'degrading' incident, which took place in her formative years in Hollywood, when a female producer made her stand in a nude line-up only to body-shame her, reports People magazine. The Oscar-winning was speaking at the Elle's Women in Hollywood event. She said: "A female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We are stood side-by-side with only tape on covering our privates. After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet," reports People magazine.
"I let myself be treated a certain way because I felt I had to for my career. I'm still learning that I don't have to smile when a man makes me uncomfortable. Every human being should have the power to be treated with respect because they're human," Jennifer Lawrence added.
Jennifer Lawrence made her Hollywood debut in 2008 film Garden Party after starring in several successful television shows like Company Town and The Bill Engvall Show. In a career spanning nine years, Jennifer Lawrence has made over 20 films including The Hunger Games series, the X-Men films, Dior and I and Silver Linings Playbook, for which she won Best Actress Academy Award.
Talking about the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Jennifer Lawrence said: "I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein's behavior. I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward," reports People magazine.
Jennifer Lawrence was last seen in mother! and her upcoming films are Red Sparrow and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
