New York:
Singer and actress Jessica Simpson has slammed rumours that she is upset over ex-husband Nick Lachey's recent engagement to Vanessa Minnillo, insisting she couldn't be happier for him.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM station on Thursday, the 'Blonde Ambition' star addressed rumors of bitterness towards the couple's engagement, reported New York Daily News.
"I am extremely, extremely happy for him," said Simpson.
When asked about the rumours that she was "deeply saddened" by news of the engagement, Simpson said, "I don't know where all those rumours came from. My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick."
Simpson and Lachey, who featured on the MTV reality show 'Newlyweds' parted ways in 2005 after being married for three years. The 30-year-old singer said she wants to move past any rumours of bad blood between the two.
"Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa. I do, and I really wish them nothing but the best," said Simpson.
