Pirates of the Caribbean superstar Johnny Depp delighted pupils at a London primary school after swinging in unannounced to help raise a mutiny against the teachers.
The 47-year old Hollywood actor turned up to the Meridian Primary School in Greenwich on Thursday dressed as his piratical alter ego, Captain Jack Sparrow, in response to a letter written by nine-year-old pupil Beatrice Delap.
In the letter, the blossoming buccaneer wrote: "We are a bunch of budding young pirates and we're having trouble mutinying against the teachers! We'd love it if you could come and help!"
The roguish adventurer performed sea-shanties with four other members of the cast during a 15 minute flying visit but there was to be no uprising with the usually rebellious Sparrow claiming that there were police outside monitoring his movements.
"Alas, there was no walking the planks or adventures on the high seas but we all had a lesson on how to clean our teeth, the pirate way," a message on the school's website said.
"There was too much excitement to think about taking over the school, so instead, the children all sang their own pirate song to great applause. Captain Jack even danced along."
The Edward Scissorhands actor is in Greenwich filming sequel "On Stranger Tides" at the nearby Old Naval College.
