The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star is a distantrelative of UK's Queen Elizabeth II according to the finds ofa BBC show 'Who Do You Think You Are'.
According to Nick Barratt, the genealogy expert of theshow which traces back the roots of famous names, Depp is amember of the British royal family.
"Depp is likely 20th cousins with the Queen, theconnection being a shared grandfather," said Barratt.
The connection requires one to go back 600 years to anunconfirmed marriage in the 1400's in Yorkshire, England.
"I believe the balance of probability is that thereis indeed a link between Depp and the royals, though I doubtwe'll ever be able to prove it 100 percent," he said.
Meanwhile Depp's next project is inspired by adifferent line of ancestry, his Cherokee Indian heritage.
Depp will play Tonto in a reinvented big screenversion of 'The Lone Ranger' in which the Native Americansidekick takes a lead role.
