The judge overseeing R&B star Rihanna's latest stalker case fears the obsessed fan, who has been sending her threatening letters, has a potential to become like Mark David Chapman - the man who shot and killed John Lennon.
New York City judge Orlando Marrazzo ruled Kevin McGlynn was unfit to stand trial on stalking charges and committed him to a psychiatric hospital in Staten Island, reported Daily Mirror.
He told Kevin McGlynn to stay away from Rihanna's home in Manhattan and gave police officials permission to arrest him if he was spotted in the vicinity.
He has also been barred from contacting Rihanna by phone, mail or computer.
In his decision, Orlando compared Kevin to Mark David Chapman, who killed John Lennon in 1980, stating, "He appears to be a ticking time bomb who is wholly fixated on her (Rihanna), and poses a direct threat of serious physical harm or death to her and anyone around her." Kevin, 54, reportedly wrote a series of notes to the singer that made references to murder and sexual assault.
He also accused Rihanna of using his material in her songs and was spotted outside her home.
