New Delhi:
Varun Dhawan's new film Judwaa 2 has successfully toppled over the Rs 100 crore mark in eight days and witnessed great progress on Saturday. Judwaa 2 is in its second week now and have made a total score of Rs 108.08 crore, reported trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Earlier, Judwaa 2 was compared to this year's magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion, a movie that redefined box office history - Mr Adarsh predicted that Varun's film has the potential to rank next to the S S Rajamouli-directed movie at the box office. In his tweet on Sunday, he wrote: "Judwaa 2 witnesses HUGE GROWTH on Sat... Sun will be big too." This is what Mr Adarsh shared when Judwaa 2 made it to the Rs 100 crore cut: "Judwaa2 remains above all new films... Cruises past Rs 100 cr mark."
Judwaa 2 also stars Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez as Varun Dhawan's two heroines. It is a sequel to Salman Khan's 1997 cult comedy Judwaa and is also directed by Varun's father David Dhawan, who helmed the first part. Salman Khan features in a cameo in Judwaa 2.
Of Varun's dual roles in the movie, this is what critic Raja Sen has to say in his review for NDTV: "As Prem, the nerd, Dhawan isn't half bad as he chastises his twin for thrusting his pelvis, but as the ruffian Raja, doing said thrusts, he seems significantly out of his depth. That sleaziness came so much easier to Salman. Perhaps because he wasn't copying anyone."
Judwaa 2 is Varun Dhawan's first film after this year's Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
