Madrid:
Singer Julio Iglesias Jr. regards as a "challenge" his role in the Spanish stage version of Grease because this is the first time he will appear in a musical inspired by a movie he has seen many times since he was a youngster.
Grease is hard work, Iglesias said, because every day he has to act, sing and take the stage, but above all, it is a "perfect" work because it combines two of his passions, music and acting.
Iglesias will play Teen Angel "for eight minutes in the third scene of the second act of the musical, which lasts 2 1/2 hours", the artistic director and choreographer of Grease, Coco Comin, said.
Teen Angel comes down from heaven and "talks to a girl named Frenchy", urging her to study and work harder, in other words, "he acts as a guide in the life of this girl who has pretty much lost her way", the 38-year-old Iglesias said.
Comin said she chose Julio Iglesias Jr. because "he combines the necessary series of characteristics to play a part that calls for moving and jumping" around the stage while "also having to sing and explain the lyrics" in his talks with Frenchy.
