Kahaani's dream, Kolkata Metro's nightmare

<i>Kahaani</i>'s dream, Kolkata Metro's nightmare
Kolkata: Suicides on its track being its worst nightmare, the Kolkata Metro is seeing red over a dream sequence from the upcoming Vidya Balan starrer Kahaani and has asked the filmmaker to delete the scene where the protagonist is shown as being pushed perilously close to a speeding train.

"After watching the promos, we found the scene very objectionable. The Metro has been plagued by suicides. Till date we have registered 224 cases of suicides of which 124 have resulted in death. Following our objection, the said scene has been removed from the promos," said Kolkata Metro spokesperson Pratyush Ghosh.

After a discussion with the Metro authorities, director Sujoy Ghosh has agreed to submit a video of the entire scene where Vidya Balan who plays the central character is shown being pushed in front of a speeding train by a man.

"Ghosh will give us the video shortly. After watching the clip and discussing with the filmmaker, we will decide whether the scene should be retained in the movie or not. It is a dream sequence and Sujoy says is integral to the movie," said Pratyush.

"Our cause of concern is how much the scene can damage Metro's image. Only after watching the entire clip we would be able judge that and decide accordingly," he added.

In the movie, Vidya plays the character of Vidya Bagchi, a seven months pregnant NRI woman who arrives in the city in search of her missing husband.

The actress, who was in the city to promote the film, expressed her desire to be the face of the oldest tube rail service in the country.

"If I get an offer to become the brand ambassador of Kolkata Metro, I will definitely take it up," she said.
