When two of the biggest stars of Indian cinema praise each other's work on a global platform, there won't be any bigger news than that. Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have co-starred in Nag Ashwin's sci-fi movie Kalki 2898-AD, formerly known as Project K. The film's teaser released at the grand San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on Friday. The film's lead actor Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Rana Daggubati attended the press conference while Amitabh Bachchan marked his presence virtually. Kamal Haasan talked about the unique quality of Indian cinema at the conference. He said, "What is so great is the energy that our audience brings to our cinema. We make the movies; they make the stars." Then Kamal Haasan praised superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati. Amitabh Bachchan interrupted Kamal Haasan and quipped, "Stop being so modest Kamal, you are much much greater than all of us."
Then Amitabh Bachchan showered praises on his co-star of Kalki 2898-AD. Amitabh Bachchan said, "The kind of films Kamal has done is very difficult to believe. There's so much reality in each of his movies. He puts so much efforts into each of his roles. We have worked before. But this film will be special." The live audience, present at Comic-Con, clapped every time Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan praised each other.
It's difficult to read Kamal Haasan's expression whether he felt awkward or was preparing himself to share a secret after listening to Amitabh Bachchan's words. He shared an anecdote about the movie Sholay. He was an assistant director on Sholay and he didn't like the movie after he watched it. Reason? "I was an assistant director on Sholay. I couldn't sleep the night I watched it because I hated the film so much. I hated the filmmaker even more. I had the opportunity of working with a great filmmaker and that was my reaction and I told him," recollected Kamal Haasan. Then Kamal Haasan expressed his gratitude to Big B with these words, "As a technician, I couldn't sleep that night and Amitji has done many such movies. Him saying nice things about my films is something I had never imagined."
