Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut in a still from Krrish 3.
New Delhi:
After an acrimonious few months in which accusations and legal notices were exchanged, it appears that actors Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan have finally called a truce. A statement released on behalf of Ms Ranaut now says that peace is being brokered by 'common' friends of the former co-stars and rumoured exes.
"We would like everyone to know that some common people have started intervening in the matter and want the matter to be resolved amicably," said Ms Ranaut's lawyer on Wednesday. He also said that the actors and their reps would no longer be speaking to the press. "Therefore, to end the matter on a positive note we shall not be giving any further statement to the media on the said matter, as the same has also been assured from their side," he said.
This long-looked-for resolution comes a day or two after an old picture of Mr Roshan and Ms Ranaut was circulated as evidence that the actors once dated. The picture - a grainy snap taken at a private party six-odd years ago - was run by mid-day and attributed to a 'common friend' who had insisted on anonymity.
Hrithik Roshan has maintained that the alleged affair never happened. The actor's ex-wife Sussanne Khan tweeted a defence saying the picture had been photoshopped. On Thursday, a spokesperson for Mr Roshan denied that the photo confirmed a romance: "A group photograph was made to look as if it was an intimate moment between two people. Vital facts about that photograph were conveniently suppressed. We have been maintaining that this struggle is between truth and lies and nothing else. Peace is always the end objective so let the media trial end on this note and let's have the investigation begin in proper sense. We would get whole lot of answers when the imposter in this episode is caught."
As per both statements, Ms Ranaut and Mr Roshan are agreed on peace.
Hrithik Roshan, 42, and Kangana Ranaut, 29, met and allegedly dated while filming Kites and Krrish 3. Mr Roshan has filed a complaint with the cyber crimes cell of Mumbai Police alleging that an 'imposter' corresponded with Ms Ranaut pretending to be him.
Ms Ranaut insists that it was Mr Roshan writing the mails to her all the time and that he used a different ID because he was still married to Ms Khan. Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan divorced in 2014.
After being accused by Mr Roshan of stalling the police investigation, Ms Ranaut will meet cops as a witness in the case on April 30. She has accused Mr Roshan of 'slut-shaming' her by circulating private mails and photos.
The feud between the actors went public in January when Hrithik Roshan sent Kangana Ranaut a legal notice asking her to apologise for appearing to have referred to him as a 'silly ex' in an interview.
