Mumbai: Age is just a number and in Kangana Ranaut's case that number could be 85.

The actress, who can't wait to turn older, has been offered the role of an 85-year-old in a Shekhar Kapur film. Kangana was present at a panel discussion which focused on women in films at the ongoing MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

Kangana used the example of the latest role offered to her as a means of proving that ageing doesn't necessarily mean the end of a fulfilling acting career.

However, Ava DuVernay, director of Oscar-nominated film Selma, said: "Well, then why couldn't Shekhar just get an 80-year-old to play that role?," reinforcing the point that women should be allowed and given the opportunities to simply play their ages.

Ava's feelings aside, Kangana said that she is considering the role but no firm decision has been taken as yet. "I have been offered to play an 85-year-old woman in a film by Shekhar Kapur. We are in talks for it. We are still working out things. It is a challenging role," she told news agency IANS. (Also Read: Shekhar Kapur Writing a Sequel to his 1983 Classic Masoom?)

"I am looking forward to playing older roles. I don't understand why people look down upon such roles. I saw a film Amour which was about old people. That film changed my views about them. Also I am open to playing the role of a mother. They are extremely pure and it would be beautiful to play such a character on screen," added Kangana.

Kangana, who was last seen in Katti Batti, is busy filming Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon, while Shekhar Kapur is working on Paani, which is not the film that Kangana has been offered.
