Bangalore: Popular Kannada actress Pooja Gandhi joined Janata Dal (Secular) here today.
"Pooja Gandhi has joined our party and official announcement will be made in this regard after Makar Sankranti," State JD(S) spokesperson Y S V Datta told PTI.
The actress visited the JD(S) office along the Race Course Road and held discussions with party leaders today, he said.
Datta said Pooja has been associated with JD(S) for 'quite some time' through Kannada film producer and JD(S) leader E Krishnappa who had produced the superhit film Mungaru Male starring her.
"The actress is an ardent fan of former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and has a lot of respect for him and his ideals," he said.
Pooja has acted in comercially successful Kannada films such as Mungaru Male, Taj Mahal and Budhivanta and in Tamil films Thalai Ezhuthu and Kokki.
