Karan Johar Describes Aligarh As 'Poignant, Moving and Heartbreaking'

Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar said Hansal Mehta's film Aligarh is a "relevant and important film of our times".

KJo attended a screening of the movie, which he found "poignant, moving and heartbreaking".

The film is based on the real-life story of Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, a professor at Aligarh Muslim University who was removed from his job for homosexuality. (Also Read: Manoj Bajpayee Says Aligarh Doesn't Sensationalise Siras' Story)

Actor Manoj Bajpayee plays a professor, while actor Rajkummar Rao features a journalist in the film.

Aligarh will release on February 26.
