Karan Johar has his plate full for 2013

With so many projects waiting in the side-lines, looks like Karan Johar has bitten off more than he can chew.

Highlights

  • Currently, Karan Johar has multiple projects lined up through his various associations and under his own individual banner. But sources question if the director-producer will be able to wrap up all the projects in time.
  • A source said, "Karan Johar's production to be directed by Rohit Shetty is yet to start. It was announced more than a year ago. Incidentally, Rohit has already started his film with Shah Rukh Khan and the work on Singham's sequel has already begun."
  • "On the same note, apparently there has been no further development on Karan's co-production with Ekta Kapoor, to be helmed by Abhishek Verman. Besides that, there is no further progress on his film with Ruchi Narain," the source added. Apart from Sonam Nair's film, which is yet to be completed, none of the other films have gone on floors.
  • Another source informed, "Karan is busy trying to get his own script together. He had also purchased the rights of the bestseller novel The Immortals of Meluha that was to be adapted into a film. That too has not moved forward."
  • With so many projects patiently waiting in the sidelines, the only three KJo films on the roll right now are Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Rensil D'Silva's next and his co-production with Sajid Nadiadwala based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Two States. Has Karan Johar bitten off more than he can chew? Only time will tell.
