Mumbai: Filmmaker Karan Johar said that he loved the story of Neerja and feels that it is Sonam Kapoor's best performance in her career so far.
Ram Madhvani's Neerja documents the story of Neerja Bhanot, who was killed in the 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi. Ms Bhanot, who was 23, died while shielding a group of children from gunfire and became the youngest ever recipient of the Ashok Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award.
"Neerja is Sonam's best performance till date. She is outstanding. Shabana Azmi is a legend and there is no actress like her. It is an empowering story. I would want every mother and daughter to watch this film," said Karan.
