Jaipur: Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar said that he has become an FIR king as he feels that a legal notice is waiting for him always.

"We are in a tough country. If we speak about one's personal life in today's time, we can land up in jail," said Karan.

Karan, who has made films like Dostana and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, said that as a filmmaker, he feels as if a legal notice is waiting for him always. (Also Read: Karan Johar: Was Called a 'Pansy' as a Child, Had Sleepless Nights)

"I feel bound on every level. Be it what I put out on celluloid or what I say in print. I feel like there is some kind of a legal notice waiting for me always, wherever I go. I've become some kind of an FIR king," said Karan.

Karan said that he does not want to "fight the government" by talking about "intolerance" like his colleagues in the Bollywood industry did last year.

"Look what happened as a result of anyone who said anything on it. I make movies. I am fighting megalomaniac movie stars everyday. Do I need to fight the governance? We're fighting with the Censor Board for every film. You write anything, you can't say anything. How are we democratic then," added Karan.

About section 377 of the Indian penal code, Karan said: "It's a hurdle which we need to combat. You can change the way the governance works, but how do you change the sensibility of the average man in the house. It doesn't matter what bill you pass and what dharna you do until the DNA or the mental fabric (of the society) changes," said Karan.
