Ahead of the release of Karan Johar backed Disney+Hotstar show Showtime, the director-producer hogged the limelight with a funny promotional video. Karan Johar, who has been often attacked on social media for promoting starkids heavily, took the allegation in his stride (not directly though) in this new video. The video begins with Karan Johar brainstorming to launch a web series which won't be a typical KJo-show. Debunking all the associations for which Karan Johar is celebrated for, the director-producer can be heard saying, "These song and dance numbers, mushy mushy love stories, sentimental bull****, item songs, What Jhumka? I am done with it." FYI, What Jhumka is a song from Karan Johar's last directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kaahani. The song became a rage before the release of the movie.
Coming back to the video, one of the associates of Karan Johar comes up with a story idea. It's like, "A big shot producer, who is known for launching starkids one after another, clashes with an outsider." Don't miss Karan Johar's expressions and one-liners. When he is told that the producer is called a "Nepo-king", Karan Johar replies, "A lot of people do that. I've heard. It happens." In the course of events, Karan Johar is convinced it's a "fresh" idea. "Star tantrums, dark side of bollywood, publicity stunts , pretentious friends... People will think it's not a Karan Johar show at all," the director-producer can be heard saying in the video.
Watch till the end of the video to see How Karan Johar reacts when his mom asks on phone if the show is based on him or not. Sharing the video, Karan Johar wrote, "Bohot sara drama aur blockbuster entertainment - sab kuch only in #HotstarSpecials #Showtime, streaming March 8th only on Disney + Hotstar!"
The Internet seemed to be impressed by Karan Johar's publicity stunt. A user wrote, "I think Karan should consider a comeback into acting." Another user wrote, "Not everyone can take joke and themselves, let alone create content out of it and be so sporty about it!" Another one wrote, "KJO's Acting damnnnn." Another comment read, "That's hilarious. When do I get to watch you on screen again?" Take a look:
