Karan Mehra and Hina Khan in a still from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
New Delhi:
TV actor Karan Mehra's gamble to quit playing Naitik Singhania in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and join Bigg Boss 10 didn't go as expected. The actor, who spent a month in Bigg Boss house, became the first celebrity contestant to be shown the door on Sunday. And now as Karan's ticket to fame Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai sees Hina Khan's departure, the actor doesn't seem to be too hopeful about the show's fate. Karan feels its popularity will be affected. "It has been the longest running show but after my exit, now Hina is quitting so of course it will affect the show," Karan told IANS .
Karan says that he doesn't see the show, which has been the longest running Hindi serial by episode count, going anywhere. "I don't see it going anywhere now because with all the main people getting out, it will be some other story," he added.
Karan also feels that the show should end in a "dignified way" and not "abruptly". "Fans would be disappointed but having said that all things come to an end and this would also come to an end. Its better if it ends in a dignified way and not abruptly," he said.
Hina's character will go through a fatal accident which will mark her exit. The makers will be introducing the character Mrs Goenka, the step-mom of Karthik. It will be played by TV actress Parul Chauhan whom we last saw as Ragini in Biddai. Parul has started shooting for the show and pictures from the set have found their way on social media.
This is Parul's look in the show:
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which first aired on January 12 in 2009, focuses on a Marwari joint family settled in Udaipur and the ups and downs they go through.
