Kareena Kapoor - The bride
New Delhi:
Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's five year courtship has culminated in a week of wedding celebrations. The bride wore Manish Malhotra for most of her functions, except the exchange of vows on Tuesday.
On Thursday, October 18, Kareena wore a Manish Malhotra designed gharara in shades of pink, heavily embellished with gold embroidery. She wore heavy gold jewellery to match and had her hair done up in a chignon.
For the exchange of vows at Mumbai's Taj Mahal palace hotel on Tuesday, Kareena wore a decades old gharara belonging to the Pataudis. Her mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore wore the same gharara at her own wedding to Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi in 1969.
After the ceremony, Kareena changed into a burgundy gharara by Manish Malhotra, who's team also helped her get ready for the big night earlier that evening.
Manish Malhotra spoke about Kareena's wedding outfits to PTI: "I worked on the antique Pataudi gharara that was restored by Ritu Kumar for Kareena's wedding... we did the final fittings and added a bit of touch of embroidery here and there. When Saif and Kareena exchanged vows... she wore Sharmilaji's gharara for some time," he said.
"Kareena wore a burgundy colour embellished gharara with maroon dupatta. I gave a very old world charm to all the ghararas," he told PTI.
For the registered wedding on Tuesday morning, Kareena wore a green and red embroidered salwar-kameez, again by Manish Malhotra.
Manish Malhotra also designed the orange and gold lehenga she wore to the sangeet on Sunday evening.
Saif Ali Khan's outfits have been designed by Raghavendra Rathore. He wore a brocade achkan with a pocket handkerchief that matched Kareena's outfit for the wedding. He wore a plain black bandhgala at the Delhi reception.
