On Kargil Vijay Diwas, social media has been flooded with posts from celebrities some of whom, like Abhishek Bachchan had personal stories to share. Abhishek, who was part of the ensemble cast of director J P Dutta's 2003 film LOC Kargil, Instagrammed a picture from when he visited the Kargil-Drass region with NDTV's show Jai Jawan in 2009. The photo is of Abhishek with Col Yogesh Kumar Joshi, one of the heroes of the Kargil War of 1999 between India and Pakistan. As Abhishek writes, actor Sanjay Dutt was cast as Col Joshi in LOC Kargil - Abhishek himself played Captain Vikram Batra, who died in the war. See Abhishek Bachchan's post.
Amitabh Bachchan also dedicated a post to the Kargil martyrs and wrote: “Kargil Vijay Diwas.. Saluting the Jawans for this historic victory .. Paying homage to them that sacrificed their lives for the country.”

As a tribute, I'd like to share this throwback picture of Abhishek Bachchan and me from the film! I will always be proud to be a part of JP Dutta's LOC Kargil," she wrote.
LOC Kargil featured a mega-cast that also included Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nagarjuna, Saif Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon, Raj Babbar and Suniel Shetty.
