Bangalore:
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) lifted its one year-ban on popular south Indian actress Ramya in the wake of an amicable settlement between her and Ganesh, a producer, reached through conciliatory efforts of veteran actor Ambareesh.
KFCC had imposed the ban on the actress yesterday following a dispute between her and Ganesh on repayment of a loan.
"We have decided to lift the one-year ban on Ramya following the conciliation between her and producer A Ganesh, which was possible through the mediatory efforts of thespian Ambareesh", KFCC President Basant Kumar Patil told PTI.
30 year-old Ramya had claimed Ganesh owed Rs 10 lakh to her. She thanked the Artistes' Association led by Ambareesh for their "unstinting support" and said she had got back the loan amount payable to her by Ganesh.
The row between Ramya and Ganesh over repayment of the loan amount had deepened with the actress announcing her decision to quit the film industry.
Patil had cited "false allegations" made by Ramya against renowned filmmakers as the reason for imposition of the ban.
KFCC also took serious objections to the actress going public over the row. Ambareesh said that with the matter "ending on a happy note", the Artistes' Association has decided to lift a similar ban that was imposed on Ganesh.
"It was a trivial issue that was blown out of proportion. We are one family. I am very happy that the issue has been resolved amicably", he said.
Ramya was the winner of the 2006 Film Fare award for best actress (Kannada) for her role in Thananam Thananam.
Ramya has acted in box-office hits Arasu, Amruthadhare and Mussange Mathu (Kannada) and Vaaranam Aayiram (Tamil).
