Karva Chauth 2017: The Twinkle Khanna Tweet We All Were Waiting For

New Delhi: It's Karva Chauth today, which means a tweet from Twinkle Khanna. No negotiations, okay? The former actress, sports many hats - she's a best-selling author, entrepreneur and the undisputed queen on Twitter puns. While tweets dipped in Twinkle's signature humour are favourites of many, the occasion of Karva Chauth she appears to be of particular interest to her. We say this because, Twinkle has referenced to Karva Chauth in her previous speeches and tweets - each time suggesting hilarious alternatives to the whole purpose of the festival. On Karva Chauth, married women fast for an entire day to pray for long life of their husbands. Well, that's now how it works, says Twinkle.

During her speech at the Vogue Women Of The Year Awards, Twinkle advised women to stop fasting on Karva Chauth, explaining: "...On the mortality charts there are 147 countries above us where their men outlive our good old Indian dudes."

Twinkle is the author of two books - Mrs Funnybones (which also doubles up as the name of her social media handles) and The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. At the launch of her first novel in 2015, this is how she drew an ironic connection between Karva Chauth and the moon: "Mrs. Funnybones is about how modern woman looks in India and how India looks back at her. We live in a world where we have sent a satellite to Mars, but we are looking at the moon and praying for our husband's long life."

Twinkle Khanna is married to actor Akshay Kumar. The couple are parents to two children - Nitara, 5, and Aarav, 15.
