Actress Katrina Kaif, who woncritical acclaim for her performance in Prakash Jha'sRajneeti, is likely to feature in its second edition aswell.
Director-producer Prakash Jha has already announcedplans of making a sequel to the hit 2010 political thriller.
In Rajneeti, Katrina played the role of Indu, whowas shown to be reluctantly drawn into the murky world ofpolitics after her husband, Prithvi (played by Arjun Rampal),is killed. At the end of the film, the widowed Indu was shownto be pregnant.
"I did hear the idea about sequel from Prakashji, Ithink it was brilliant. The only thing is that most of thecharacters from the first film have been killed, so he has toset up whole thing again. The story line, the idea that hetold me about Rajneeti 2 is amazing and I hope everythingcomes on properly," Katrina said in an interview last night.
"I think he is busy with another film Satyagrah. Ifsomething really falls in place then it is good because Igenuinely feel it is a good idea. It is something that excitedme. I hope things fall in place," she said.
In Rajneeti the characters played by Ajay Devgan,Manoj Bajpayee, Naseeruddin Shah, Arjun Rampal and SarahThompson die on screen. However, there are chances that NanaPatekar might return in its sequel.
But Ranbir Kapoor is not likely to be the part of thesecond instalment as he reportedly decided to drop out of thefilm because his schedule is packed with other plumassignments.
Is Rajneeeti sequel going to be women-oriented?
"I don't know as he (Jha) has given me one line briefabout it. He has not called me for full script as he isworking on two films - Chakravyuh and Satyagrah."
When asked if she intended to do a serious film likeRajneeti, the 28-year-old actress said, "It is not a seriousfilm. If another good film like that comes to me I will do it.
Rajneeti is a script (that) has been worked upon for time,like a lot of time was spent on research".
Katrina is gearing up for the Independence Day releaseof Ek Tha Tiger opposite ex-beau Salman Khan whom she hadrecommended to director Kabir Khan for the film.
"Kabir is dear friend of mine. We did New York in2009. He spoke to me about Ek Tha Tiger after New York wasreleased. I liked his idea and told him I will do it. WhenI was performing at a function Kabir told me that he wanted tomeet Salman considering that I know him in person," she said.
"I told Kabir that he must meet Salman and talk aboutthe idea as he liked his work earlier. So I asked him to tryhis luck with Salman, but I was not sure whether he will dothe film or not," the 28-year-old said.
Katrina said she was "overjoyed" when Salman came onboard for the romantic-action-thriller Ek Tha Tiger.
"When I got to know that Salman has signed the film, Iwas very happy. To get a good person to act...best person likehim to act for this film....so in that way I was happy forKabir," she added.
