Keerthy Suresh made her Bollywood debut with Varun Dhawan's Atlee, the official Hindi remake of Theri. In a recent interview with Galatta India, Keerthy revealed her dear friend Samantha Ruth Prabhu recommended her name for Atlee's production.
Keerthy said, "She probably had me in mind when this was happening; that's what Varun also told me. I can't be grateful enough for that. It's so sweet of her to say, 'Keerthy will be able to pull off this character.' Her performance in Theri is one of my favourites in Tamil. Honestly, I was very scared." For the unversed, Samantha Ruth Prabhu played Keerthy's role in the Tamil version.
Samantha also gave a shout out to Keerthy soon after Baby John's trailer was released. "I remember her posting a story on Instagram after watching the trailer of Baby John, saying, 'I wouldn't have shared this one with anyone else, but you.' It was so sweet and meant a lot to me", Keerthy added.
Keerthy and Samantha shared screen space in Nag Ashwin's 2018 Telugu period drama Mahanati. Keerthy won a National Award for the Best Actress for the film.
On the personal front, Keerthy married her long-time boyfriend Antony Thattil in a traditional ceremony, followed by a Christian wedding this month.
Wishing the newlyweds, Samantha shared a picture from the ceremony and wrote, "The picture has my whole heart. Congratulations to the most beautiful people, may you be filled with eternal happiness and love always (red heart emoticons) #NyKeforever."
Baby John stars Varun Dhawan, Jackie Shroff, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rajpal Yadav. The film minted double digit numbers on its opening day. But from second day onwards, the film saw a major dip in earnings amid Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 wave.
