Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 40 feature films will vie for the Kerala state film awards to be announced here on July 20, state Chalachitra Academy sources said.
Renowned Tamil director K Bhagyaraj is the jury chairman and the Jury has been watching the movies since last week.
The screening would be over on July 17.
This year's competition is interesting as it involves a pack of films described as 'new generation cinema.' Aashiq Abu (Salt and Pepper), Dr Biju (Akashathinte Niram), Blessy (Pranayam) are among those competing for the awards.
Ranjith's Indian Rupee and V K Prakash's Beautiful are other notable entries in the list competing for the awards.
