Khan Face-Off: Shah Rukh 'Digs Hole' for Aamir. Here's What Happened

SRK allegedly made fun of Aamir's PK poster

Highlights

  • If two warring Khans weren't enough, another just threw his hat into the ring. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has responded to Shah Rukh Khan's alleged comments about the first poster of Aamir's film PK with rather uncharacteristic tongue-in-cheek humour.
  • Aamir was told at the release of PK's second poster in Mumbai yesterday that SRK had taken a dig at near-naked Aamir on the first poster, quipping "Don't tell anybody else that this is talent." Asked to comment by the assembled press, Aamir said, "No I won't say anything. I won't say anything. I can think of two or three amazing answers right now. See, the man who digs a hole for another man, what happens of him, you yourself tell me. Am I not correct? The word dig that you used, it is this dig that I stay away from."
  • One-line witticisms are usually part of SRK's arsenal, not the usually diplomatic Aamir's. However, the 49-year-old actor has had some practice lately in dealing with snarkiness and criticism, ever since his appearance on the now-infamous PK poster earlier this month, all but nude with a carefully positioned transistor providing a crucial bit of cover.
  • The transistor has absented itself from the just-released second poster but no replacement fig leaf was required - Aamir is fully clothed in this new poster, dressed as a bandwaala and toting a giant tuba.
  • At the launch of the poster, Aamir also fielded a comment from those present that said a female actor taking his place in the first controversial poster would have been unable to leave home. The actor said that women are already objectified and his unclothed appearance had challenged certain patriarchal views which, he felt, was part of why the poster had created such a furore.
  • PK reunites Aamir with his 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani and co-stars Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt and Sushant Singh Rajput. It releases on December 19.
