"My Mastaani likes my bald pate and she is also very happy with the movie and the scenes we have shot," said Ranveer Singh as he arrived for the promotions of Kill Dil in New Delhi. With his bald head hidden under a hat, the actor is excited about his next film Bajirao Mastaani with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which is a love story between the Peshwa Bajirao and Mastani, his second wife. This is also Ranveer's second outing with rumoured girlfriend Deepika Padukone
However his Kill Dil co star Parineeti says it was Deepika's role as Leela which she would have killed for. Now, which actress wouldn't want to be in Bollywood's Million Dollar Baby's shoes, right?
So is there a role that Ranveer could have killed for? The actor says he hasn't been envious of any role essayed by any of his contemporaries as he is in a happy place with the kind of work and people he was getting to work with. But if there was one role he could give his eye and teeth for, it would be actor Shahid Kapoor's role in the Vishal Bhardwaj directed movie Kaminey, since it gave an actor a wide canvas to explore
Unapologetic and not your regular hero off screen, Ranveer says he doesn't like the pressure of maintaining "a typical hero-like persona". If people think he is loud and crazy, well that's the way he likes being.
So, what is that one 'kill me now moment', experienced by the stars in the film industry?
Ranveer says, "It's the elitist and their phoo phoo talk that really gets to me. The so called elitist who bring cynical perspective along with them to the table."
Actor Parineeti Chopra doesn't mince words and says, "It is the promotional bandwagon that has really got to me in the past. Not only is it repetitive but it gets to us all." Supporting her stance Ranveer adds, "an actor is supposed to be on the set, not going from studio to studio or city to city promoting his movie."
Pakistani actor Ali Zafar says, "these days there is too much of pressure on an actor to not only perform and look a certain way but had to be a salesman too." And here we thought that the stars enjoyed their promotional outings.
Kill Dil not only sees the return of director Shaad Ali in the director's seat after 7 years, after Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, it is actor Govinda's comeback after four years. Describing him as a master class in acting Ranveer Singh says, "If for nothing else, watch it for Govinda in a never seen before avatar."
