Sydney:
If keeping up with Kardashians is hard, keeping up with Kim is harder.
Just 10 weeks after her lavish, made-for-TV wedding to basketballer Kris Humphries, reality starlet Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce citing the usual irreconcilable differences. The experience of ending her marriage after just 72 days, she said, is a painful one and not a sham.
Kim, who is currently in Australia to promote her Kardashian Collection handbags speaks about her divorce, her designs and why she would never marry for a TV show.
Despite intense media interest in the break up, Kardashian says her trip to Australia is helping her get away from it all.
Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show on Wednesday (November 2nd, 2011) she insisted that she married for love and was stunned that she's having to defend herself against accusations that her marriage was a publicity stunt.
Here are the excerpts of her conversation.
Question: You've travelled from one side of the world to the other. Media stories everywhere about the split up with you two. How are you Darl? Are you alright? That's what most people want to know, how're you going?
Kim K: In a tough situation I'm trying to do the best that I can and it's actually a kind of escape to come here. I had this work commitment for Kardashian Collection handbags that we're doing out here, so I really wanted to honor that commitment and stay here, come out here just to hope - get my mind off everything, but, there's really no easy way to go through something like this.
Question: So what happened? There's so many rumors out there and different stories. I know one of the things you wanted to clear up was that this marriage is a sham. That's not the case. You said that you married for love, yeah?
Kim K: I mean absolutely, I mean I don't think I'm really ready to go into the details of what went on in my marriage, but I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that and I think that's really ridiculous that I have to even defend that, but I guess that comes along with when you film your wedding for a reality show and just with the support of my family everything will work out the way it's supposed to.
Question: Kim you're gonna be single now, are you ready to date yet? I know it's only early, but...
Kim K: No, I'm not, I'm not even thinking about that. I would never marry for a TV show. I don't think I'm really ready to go into the details of what went on in my marriage, but I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that and I think that's really ridiculous that I have to even defend that, but I guess that comes along with when you film your wedding for a reality show.
She went on to add that reports that she made millions of dollars from the wedding "are simply not true."
In her massage to her fans, Kim said that she takes "full responsibility for my actions and decisions," adding "it just didn't turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for."
"I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed into something too soon," she added.
Kardashian and Humphries dated for nine months before marrying in August this year.
